Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Techxnix LLC ("we", "us") handles information when you use the CalorAI mobile apps for iOS and Android and this website (together, "CalorAI"). We collect only what CalorAI needs to work, we don't sell your data, and we don't show ads.

1. Information we collect

Account information

When you sign in we receive your email address and, if you provide it, your name. If you sign in with Apple or Google we also receive an account identifier from that provider. If you use Apple's "Hide My Email", we receive only the relay address Apple gives us.

Profile and goals

To calculate your calorie and macro targets you give us your age, sex, height, weight, activity level and goal, plus your answers to the setup questions. We store this with your account so it's available on every device you sign in on.

Food log

The meals you log, with their names, portions, calories, macros and times, are stored with your account and synced between your devices.

Food photos and descriptions

When you scan a meal, the photo (or the text you type to describe it) is sent to our server and passed to our AI provider, Anthropic, to identify the food and estimate its nutrition. We don't store your photos on our servers after the analysis is returned, and Anthropic processes them under commercial terms that don't allow it to train its models on them. Photos you take stay on your device unless you delete them.

When you scan a barcode, only the barcode number is looked up in the Open Food Facts product database.

Apple Health and Health Connect

If you allow it, CalorAI reads steps, active and total calories burned, heart rate and weight from Apple Health (iOS) or Health Connect (Android), and can write your weight back. This health data is read and used only on your device to show your daily energy balance. It is never sent to our servers, never used for advertising or marketing, and never shared with anyone. You can revoke access at any time in your phone's Health settings.

Purchases

Subscriptions are paid through the App Store or Google Play; we never see your payment card. Our subscription provider, RevenueCat, receives the purchase receipt and your CalorAI account ID so we can unlock Premium on all your devices.

Usage, diagnostics and notifications

We use Google Firebase to understand how CalorAI is used and to fix problems: Firebase Analytics records in-app events (such as completing setup or logging a meal) together with device model, OS version, app version and approximate region; Firebase Crashlytics collects crash reports; and Firebase Cloud Messaging provides a device token to deliver reminders you turn on. These are linked to a random account ID, not your email or name.

Feedback and support

If you send feedback in the app or email us, we receive what you write and your email address.

Camera

The camera is used only while you're scanning a meal or a barcode.

2. How we use your information

• To provide CalorAI: sign you in, calculate your targets, analyse meals, keep your log and sync it across devices.
• To manage your subscription and scan credits.
• To send the sign-in codes and reminders you ask for.
• To keep CalorAI secure, prevent abuse, fix bugs and improve features.
• To respond to your requests and comply with the law.

We don't sell your personal information, use it for targeted advertising, or use your health information for anything other than providing CalorAI to you.

3. Legal bases (EEA, UK and Switzerland)

We process your information to perform our contract with you (providing CalorAI), on the basis of your explicit consent for health-related information such as your weight, goals and food log (which you can withdraw by deleting it or your account), on our legitimate interests in securing and improving CalorAI, and to meet legal obligations.

4. Who we share it with

We share information only with service providers that process it on our behalf, under contracts that limit their use of it:

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of our users or others, or as part of a merger or acquisition, in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information.

5. How long we keep it

We keep your account, profile and food log for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, they are deleted from our database immediately. Food photos are not retained after analysis. Sign-in codes expire after 10 minutes. Firebase analytics and crash data expire automatically under Firebase's retention settings, and payment records are kept by Apple, Google and RevenueCat as required for tax and accounting.

6. Your rights and choices

• Delete your account in the app (Profile → Delete account) or on our account deletion page.
• Access, correct or export your data: edit your profile and log in the app, or email support@techxnix.com for a copy.
• Health access and notifications can be turned off at any time in your phone's settings.
• Depending on where you live (for example the EEA, UK or California) you may also have the right to object to or restrict processing, and to complain to your local data protection authority. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

California residents: we don't sell or "share" personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we don't use sensitive personal information for purposes other than providing CalorAI.

7. Security

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and stored in access-controlled databases. Sign-in codes are stored only as cryptographic hashes. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you of a breach where the law requires it.

8. International transfers

Techxnix LLC is based in the United States and our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

9. Children

CalorAI is not intended for children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We'll update this page when our practices change and revise the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll let you know in the app or by email before it takes effect.
